Venue: Europe House, 32 Smith Square, London

14 February 2013, from 13:00 - 18:00 - Followed by a South East Europe Wine Tasting Reception and Canapés

Organised in partnership with South East European Studies at Oxford (SEESOX), University of Oxford

As the on-going crisis in the Eurozone continues to unfold there is a need for an Action Plan picking up on the positive developments in the Western Balkans as well as key remaining challenges in the region and the EU so that the overall momentum in South East Europe is not lost and that EU "enlargement fatigue" as argued by some experts and politicians (despite Croatian accession) is counteracted.

The conference aims to provide constructive informed input to political and economic reforms in the region key to the regions accession process including the criteria all candidate countries will need to fulfil, and the EU’s own internal challenges to adapt to and accommodate further enlargement, using academic, business, civil society and diplomatic expertise.

In addition, the Forum will provide the gateway for prospective investors interested in the region to explore the FDI climate and opportunities in Southeast Europe with the added bonus of direct contact with regional policy-makers and businesspeople. Participants will also be able to enjoy a selection of Southeast European wines at a Wine Tasting Networking Reception that will follow the Forum.

Who should attend?

EU-Balkans policy-makers and business leaders (investors already operating in Southeast Europe and those interested in exploring business opportunities in the region), senior diplomats, UK and EU government officials, academics and experts in SEE. The event is now fully booked.
