The "International Forum on Responsible Banking and Finance” provides a timely opportunity to promote the need for more ethical and transparent business practice worldwide. It will also examine future objectives to stimulate more responsible conduct amongst professionals and banking markets in order to avoid the bad banking practices and financial scandals that have so damaged the image and credibility of financial institutions in recent years.

The forum seeks constructive input in addressing these challenges by focusing on issues such as: financial regulation, corporate governance in banking, ethics and banking, long term risks to financial institutions, markets and sound investment practice. In addition, the forum will facilitate information exchange and contacts between prospective UK and international stakeholders. Amongst other the forum will aim to cover some of the following topics:

  • What are the key concerns of Governments and regulators on standards and culture in banking?
  • How have firms and the wider market already responded, what role does Corporate Governance play?
  • Where are the opportunities going forward and what practical steps should firms be taking?
  • What are the key challenges in addressing banking reforms internationally?
  • The importance of financial services in spurring global economic growth
