Hosted by Alan Houmann, Chairman of Policy of IBDE, the IBDE Ambassadorial Luncheon will bring together Heads of Mission from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas alongside senior representatives from Whitehall and corporate partners to discuss Brexit and implications for the UK, EU, US, Asian, Commonwealth and the wider global markets. The discussion will be held under the Chatham House rule.

​​Sir Mark Boleat ​​holds a portfolio of public sector, commercial and voluntary positions. He is Senior Partner at AlbionRock, a business advisory firm providig strategic consulting on Brexit; Chairman of Link Scheme Holdings; Deputy Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Policy and Resources Committee, having been Chairman from May 2012 to May 2017; Chairman of Governors of the City of London Academy Highbury Grove; Chairman of the Housing and Finance Institute, and member of the Advisory Board of IBDE.

Carolyn Fairbairn joined the CBI as Director-General in November 2015. She spent her early career at McKinsey, before taking on a range of senior leadership roles in the media industry. As a partner at McKinsey, Carolyn was a leader of the firm’s media practice. As BBC Director of Strategy, she led the BBC’s digital strategy and ran its transmission arm. Carolyn was also a member of the Executive board of ITV for four years. Carolyn has extensive FTSE board experience as a non-executive director of Lloyds Banking Group, The Vitec Group and Capita plc. She was also a Director of the Competition and Markets Authority, the UK Statistics Authority, and from 2008-11, the Financial Services Authority. From 1995-97, Carolyn was a member of the Number 10 Policy Unit. She began her career as an economist at the World Bank and then as a journalist for The Economist magazine.
Alan Houmann is Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Policy at IBDE. Alan is the managing director and head of Citi’s government affairs team for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Alan is a member of Citi’s EMEA Operating Committee (OpCo), and is the regional representative on Citi’s Pride Affinity Steering Committee. Alan participates actively in the public policy arena, having served on the Board of TheCityUK; he also chairs TheCityUK’s EU Strategy Group, and is a member of the executive board of its International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG). He also serves on the External Affairs Committee of UK Finance (formerly the British Bankers Association), and chairs its Brexit Advisory Committee. Alan has masters degrees in international studies and philosophy, from the University of St. Andrews, and in economics from the University of London.
